When former pro-tennis-player-turned-promoter Butch Buchholz first organized the event, he held it in Delray Beach and Boca Raton .
He brought in Alan Mills , then tournament referee at Wimbledon , as head referee, and Ted Tinling , a top tennis fashion designer of the 1920s, as director of protocol.

The 19-year-old saw his hopes of earning a maiden call-up for the weekend's Europe/Africa Zone Group Two match with Lithuania dashed following a reoccurrence of tendonitis in his right wrist.
As a result, former British junior number one Dan Evans headed up a relatively inexperienced team, including debutant James Ward and Jamie Baker alongside doubles specialists Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski.

1999 finalist Carlos Moya rolled back the years as he began the Indian Wells Masters with a 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-5) win over American Tim Smyczek Thursday.
The Spaniard took over the ATP-number-one ranking 11 years ago thanks to a semi-final victory against Gustavo Kuerten in the desert.
Moya is playing the event for the first time since 2008 after undergoing shoulder surgery and coming through a difficult rehab process.

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt won his second straight Laureus Sportsman of the Year award Wednesday and American tennis player Serena Williams won the women's prize for the second time.
Bolt won three gold medals at last year's world championships and set world records in the 100 and 200-meter races.
Williams won the Australian Open and Wimbledon and regained the No 1 ranking.

Music fans and comedy lovers are applauding the return of Wimbledon's biggest arts festival.
The annual Cannizaro Park Festival was dropped in 2009 after the company behind the event said it had become too expensive to run.
But this week a new organisation, Wimbledon event management company BHL, confirmed it would resurrect the summer celebration this year.
